About Mr. Dowden
My Name is Mr. Dowden and I am excited to get to know each of you! I love examining history and using the lessons from the past to understand the present and inform the future. In my history classes, students will learn valuable skills how to evaluate sources, analyze evidence, and think critically.
I was born in LA and my family moved to Murrieta when I was 12 years old. I've lived in California, Hawaii, Utah, and Texas. In 2012, I moved back to Murrieta. I worked as a Quality Systems Manager at an aerospace manufacturing plant for 10 years analyzing and auditing systems and practices for efficiency and productivity before becoming an educator. My past roles at VMHS have included: Activities Director, ELD Coordinator, Wellness Room Coordinator, and PLUS (Peer Leaders Uniting Students) Advisor.
In addition to my History classes, this year I am the PLUS Culture advisor. PLUS Culture will use student voice to help school stakeholders make informed decisions and improve campus climate and culture while providing students opportunities to share their culutres and stories and promoting visibility, representation, and inclusion on campus.
