If your student is in this class, he/she is here for three subjects. Students will be learning language arts, social studies and science in this class. Throughout the year these subjects will be integrated as much as possible. Some projects will be given grades in two subject areas. For example, a science poster could be given a grade for the science content and also a language arts grade for the written parts. The social studies focus in sixth grade is Ancient History. The science focus is Earth Science. Language arts continues to cover the four areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Writing genres include expository, narratives, persuasive, research, and response to literature. Curriculum is based on California State Standards.
