Welcome To 2nd Grade!
Hi my name is Mrs. Lukofnak. It means an archer or bowman. My husband's family is from Austria. My husband's name is Richard and he is not only my husband but best friend. We got married in September 2010. I am very blessed that our paths have crossed. Mr. Lukofnak is a helicopter pilot. He recently transferred out here so he is working close to home flying medevac. That means that he helps in an emergency to make sure that people can be taken to and from hospitals safely.
I am happy to say that this will be my 12th year in my career of teaching. I cannot picture myself in any other career. I have taught here at Monte Vista Elementary since it opened. I feel blessed to have a rewarding career which I can honestly say I love. I have taught 1st grade for 6 years (including a 1-2 combo class) and 2nd grade for five years. What I love about teaching the most is when I have students come visit me from the past. There is nothing more rewarding than knowing what a difference you can make in a child's life.
I received my B.A. in Liberal Studies from Cal State San Bernardino, teaching credential from University of Redlands, and Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Azusa Pacific University. My learning continues day to day for children are always teaching me something. This is what keeps this job so exciting.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, family, and friends. I have a passion for exercising. I enjoy getting exercise both at the gym and outside. My husband and I started planting a garden in our backyard. We have planted tomatoes, peppers, cantaloupe, raspberries, radishes, and artichokes. I enjoy playing with my puppy Lucy. My husband and I named her after Lucille's BBQ restaurant. She is a Victorian bulldog. She has more energy than you can imagine. She loves snowcones on a hot, summer day and biting and chewing on her toys. She loves grabbing on a rope and playing tug-o-war with you. I love going on walks with her. Check out the pictures of her below! When we first got her she was about seven pounds and now she is about fifty pounds. I also have a pet turtle (box tortoise) named "Honu." I have had her for nine years. She loves to crawl up to your shoulder. Honu can fit in the palm of your hand. She loves to eat romaine lettuce, banana, and meal worms the most.
I look forward to a fabulous school year where students will develop a passion for reading, gain confidence about themselves, and a desire to go to school. I look forward to meeting you and to have a joyous year. I am very blessed for I have both my mom (Mrs. Fenstermaker) and mother in-law (Mrs. Gee Gee) to help out in my classroom.
This is Lucy shortly after Richard and I got her together.
Don't you just love her profile!
Check out Lucy's First Christmas!
Lucy is always ready to greet you with a kiss...muah!
This is the most recent picture of Lucy. We were taking a walk and she needed to take a break under the tree!
