What is the Western Undergraduate Exchange Program?
The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is a program of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). Students who are residents of WICHE states may enroll at participating two- and four-year college programs outside of their home state at a reduced tuition rate. If you’re a resident of a WICHE state, you can study out-of-state at one of our more than 140 participating schools in the West and pay reduced tuition.
- WICHE states include: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming.
Eligibility -
To be eligible for WUE, students must be a resident of a WICHE state: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming. Some colleges and universities also have additional criteria such as ACT/SAT test scores or high school GPA. Consult each institution’s profile for those details, and any application deadlines. Please note that effective January 2008, residents of Hawaii are now eligible to enroll as WUE students in both two- and four-year institutions.
