Welcome to Murrieta Mesa Dance!

The dance program at Murrieta Mesa High School offers an engaging, fun dance curriculum where dancers of all abilities can find a dance class to work on and improve their dance technique, cultivate their love of dance, and find opportunities to perform in the annual shows and productions the dance pathway produces.

Auditions for the 2024-2025 Mesa Rams Dance Team are May 16th. All interested candidates must have a 2.0 or higher GPA at the time of auditions to audition. All interested candidates must attend mandatory audition clinics on May 13, 14, & 15 in order to be eligible to audition. The audition packet and information about the Mesa Rams dance team will be available here in the second week of April. Any interested dancer who wants to be on the dance team should attend the Spring Dance Production on May 9th and 10th. At the show you will see a variety of dance styles the dance team performs throughout the school year. Happy Dancing!

Penny Chidester grew up in Magna UT. Graduating from Cyprus High School in 1981. She continued her education at the University of Utah, then moved to Northern California and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education at Cal State Hayward. She then went on to receive her Master of Arts degree in Education with an emphasis in Arts Integration from Lesley University. Mrs. Chidester taught 7th and 8th grade Physical Education at Hopkins Junior High School in Fremont, CA. for 12 years and taught Physical Education for 9 years at Thompson Middle School here in Murrieta. She has been involved with dancing her entire life, literally. Starting in dance class at the age of 3. She is the director of the dance program and has coached the MMHS dance team since the school opened in 2009. She is blessed to be able to do what she loves for her living and share her passion with the wonderful dancers at Murrieta Mesa High school. She has been married to her husband for 35 years and has three adult children. Mrs. Chidester has been a professional educator in both physical education & dance education for 35 years.
