This course meets UC/CSU and District graduation requirement for Visual and Performing Arts.  Studio art is the third pathway of the fine arts program. It builds and expands the experiences of both Art I and Art 2. While students are introduced to a variety of new processes and techniques, students’ responsibility is to work independently and to develop personal goals and philosophies through the flexibility and creativity of projects and art mediums. Students will continue to explore art movements, cultures, artists, and historical periods to understand the influences they have on art. Strong emphasis will be on portfolio development that reflects refined craftsmanship, technical skill and personal style for college and/or career entrance. Students will explore art opportunities outside of school, working with the community or business sector with internship or contract possibilities. Students will keep an art journal that shows the processes and planning of assignments and projects including: sketches, notes, critiques, reflections and samples as well as participate in written and oral critiques, presentations and self-evaluations.
