This course meets UC/CSU and District graduation requirement for Visual and Performing Arts and incorporates the National Core Art Standards. This first pathway of the fine arts program introduces students to beginning art concepts, material, skills and ideas. Students will create original works of art while exploring a variety of materials and techniques and investigating art movements, cultures, artists, and historical periods to understand the influences they have on art.  In addition to skill development they will learn to include personal experiences, research and planning of projects and assignments with an emphasis on portfolio development.
