IS PE Medical
Short-term temporary PE accommodations (less than 6 weeks)
Students will remain in their scheduled PE class with accommodation (e.g. alternative activities, assigned roles, written assignments, rest breaks), based on the doctor’s recommendation. Parents should contact their school nurse/health technician regarding the doctor’s note.
Long-Term IS PE accommodations (more than 6 weeks)
If a student’s physical limitations extend beyond six weeks or the doctor's note includes open-ended restrictions, further discussion will determine whether the student should be placed in Long-Term IS PE. While it is encouraged that students remain in their scheduled PE class with accommodations, when possible, alternative placement may be necessary.
Requirements for long-term IS PE:
· Approval is required
· Activity logs will be completed (if physical participation is possible)
Long Term IS PE Procedures:
1. Parent submits the doctor’s note to the school nurse or health technician.
2. School Nurse or Health Technician provides the MVUSD Physical Education Restriction/Waiver form for completion.
3. Upon approval, the counselor enrolls the student into Independent Study PE.
Each semester, IS PE agreements are reviewed to determine whether the student will continue or return to their regular in-person PE class.
