There are 3 types of regular verbes:
-er, -ir, -re

Conjugate is a big word for "to change a verb to match the subject."
The Subject is the who or what that does the action.
The Verb is the action or state of being.
The Infinitive is the unchanged form of the verb (not conjugated).

The subject pronouns in French are:

singular plural
1st person je = I nous = we
2nd person tu = you vous = you
3rd person il = he
elle = she
on = one (in general)
ils = they
elles = they

To conjugate an -er verb:


1)  take off the -er
2)  add the ending that matches the subject:

The present tense endings of regular -er verbes are:

tu -es
il*
elle*
on
-e
nous** -ons
vous -ez
ils*
elles*
-ent
* You may use people's names in place of the subject pronouns
with these verb endings also.

modèle:
parler = to speak

je parle
tu parles
il parle
nous parlons
vous parlez
ils parlent
(Conjugate any one -er verb begining with a consonant,
and any one -er verb begining with a vowel
as an example in the verb section of your notebook.)

If a verb starts with a vowel sound,
change je to j'

If a verb starts with a vowel sound,
change je to j'
and ne to n'

To make a sentence negative: No, I do not speak German.
put:  . . . ne verb pas. . .
example:  Je ne parle pas allemand.
