Telescope Project
The stars are aligning an exciting new opportunity in Murrieta Valley Unified School District!
The Temecula Valley Astronomers Club, in partnership with the district, are creating a unique window to the universe through an extraordinary STEM initiative.

One of two donated telescopes.
Our District, in partnership with the Temecula Valley Astronomers Club, is bringing two professional-grade telescopes, originally donated more than 20 years ago, back to life for the benefit of MVUSD students.
This extraordinary STEM initiative was inspired by the curiosity and determination of one of our own students, 7th grade, Julien. With a deep passion for science and astronomy, he reached out to district leadership after hearing about the donated telescopes. In the true spirit of exploration and discovery, Julien asked a simple but powerful question: “What happened to the telescopes?”
That question sparked a one-of-a-kind community effort. Since Julien’s initial inquiry, experienced astronomers, community experts, and district staff have joined forces to transform this vision into a lasting educational resource for all MVUSD students. Through this immersive, hands-on learning experience, students will not simply observe the stars, they will study them, collect data, and analyze real astronomical observations.
The one-of-a-kind dedicated observation deck and permanent on-site observatory will be located in between two schools and is designed to inspire curiosity, exploration, and scientific discovery, the observatory will serve today’s students and future generations for years to come. When a community comes together in support of student learning, incredible things happen. Together, we can help students reach beyond the classroom and toward the stars.
Help Students Reach for the Stars!
The Temecula Valley Astronomers Club is also leading a fundraising campaign with outside agencies to support the final procurement of materials, enhanced equipment, specialized tools, and observatory infrastructure. Their passion and investment in the next generation of explorers is helping create transformative “First Light” moments for students who may one day become aerospace engineers, astrophysicists, researchers, innovators, or leaders in STEM fields.
*Sponsorships are tax-deductible, Confirmation letters will be sent to all sponsors, once donation is received.
