    Department Chair, Pete Matus

    matusPete Matus has been working in the Murrieta Valley School District since July of 1991, at which time he spent three years teaching seventh and eight grade sciences at Shivela Middle School.  For the last fifteen years at Murrieta Valley High School, Matus has taught CP Biology, Anatomy, Concepts Science, Engineering I, Engineering II, and Engineering IV. In 2005 Matus and a team of teachers developed the Murrieta Institute of Technology (M.I.T), an engineering/technology program at Murrieta Valley High School which was awarded a Secondary Special Programs Grant for $287,000.00.  In addition to his many responsibilities as the M.I.T. director, Matus has been the advisor for the Engineering Club, Solar Cup Competition, Walk on Water Contest, and Cardboard Boat Contest while assisting with the Murrieta Valley Robotics Team.  Matus has earned a BS in Biological Science and a Teaching Credential from Ohio State University and an MA in Education from the Chapman University.
