We understand parents are concerned for the safety of their children at school.
Please be assured that our school and district administrators work very closely with Murrieta Police and Fire to ensure the safety of our students and staff and we are ready to respond immediately to any threats.
Our schools conduct lockdown and evacuation drills on a regular basis so students and staff know how to respond to an emergency. Last May the district participated in a large-scale active shooter drill at Shivela Middle School along with Murrieta Police and Fire, several Riverside County Emergency Response Agencies and local hospitals. This mass casualty drill allowed school and district personnel, students and police and emergency responders to work together to train for an active shooter incident and provide rapid stabilizing medical care and evacuation. The district conducts these drills on a regular basis.
Should an emergency arise, the first priority of school staff will be to ensure the safety of those on campus and then families would be notified as quickly as possible through our parent notification system. You will also find our current news announcements on Facebook and Twitter .
We encourage parents to take the time to read more about the district's Emergency Preparedness measures and what to expect during an emergency here.
