Mr. Allan Steer

Hello Family!

I am excited to be part of such an amazing group of teachers and staff.  It has been a long dream to work amongst the family at Shivela that finally came true.

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to you and highlight my vision for the classroom:

First of all, I bring with me a strong background in organizational leadership as a retired United States Marine. While serving my country, I have worked alongside people from all walks of life and have visited many countries throughout the world, gaining hands-on experience in understanding elements of cultural diversity that greatly assist me in working with students and staff. As a former resident of Camp Pendleton, CA, I have come to know the Murrieta community as a diverse community serving students and families from all over the world. It is this diverse student population that drew me to retire and to pursue a teaching career within the MVUSD.

Throughout the 2014-2016 school years, I worked as a daily substitute teacher for the Murrieta Valley Unified School District, Temecula Valley Unified School District and as a resident substitute for Shivela. While I knew many years ago that I would become a school teacher, it has been my daily interaction with students and staff at Shivela that has solidified my love and dedication for the teaching profession. While pursuing my MBA, I attended classes in an online and resident environment. It was that seamless use of technology, integrating it into all aspects of teaching and learning that caused me to focus my education master’s degree in the area of digital teaching and learning. My passion is designing lessons that incorporate opportunities for students to interact with content utilizing every available resource, especially showcasing how technology can enhance a student’s ability to comprehend and demonstrate thinking. During my experiences as a substitute teacher, I was able to work to assist students in utilizing technology as an assistive tool in their daily class routines. I look forward to sharing and enhancing these experiences in my own classroom and with other educators at Shivela Middle School.

I thank you in advance for your support and connection to your child's learning.

Sincerely,

Allan L. Steer
