Ms. Anne Phillips
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!
I teach Math Basic 6-8, and Study Skills. While we are starting quite differently this year; our class will be interactive, and a place we can all learn and grow together. I know there may be challenges with the new ways of learning, and want you to know we are in this together. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns or problems, so that we can work through them together.
You can reach me via email, Aeries Communication (direct message), or by using the phone number (text or call) provided in our classes. If I am unable to answer your call, please do leave a message! I generally will respond within 24 hours; sooner when possible.
There are also some benefits to learning via technology, and I am looking forward to a variety of digital tools that allow us to access Math in different ways, and support my students toward academic success in all areas.
Remember to log into Office 365 before opening Canvas for the best experience. You can do that from the Warm Springs home page.
Each of your classes can be accessed on Canvas HERE (link should be live by Friday morning):
We all can use a little humor. We will have a "Joke-of-the-Day" and you are welcome to submit your ideas now! Share a joke or riddle of your own by clicking the Daily Joke Entry. Yours may be the next one posted on our class pages.
More about Mrs. Phillips:
I am "mom" to two grown sons: David and Matthew. Both are currently serving in the United States Air Force. David and his wife Jerusha have a beautiful daughter (my first grandchild - pictured here!) and two Australian Shepherds. Matt and his wife Lynette were married "covid style" this summer, and the also have three children, so it has been a busy summer for our family! My god daughter Cristina is working as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). I am proud of each of them, as they have each overcome obstacles that have made them stronger and helped shape them into the people they are today.
I enjoy being with them, hanging out with friends and family, camping, walking on the beach (or boogie boarding IN the water!), reading, creating artwork, gardening, and being active in my church community.
I am also "sister" to four brothers and three sisters, have lived in four states and two countries. These experiences and more have provided a rich education and helped direct me to my current career in as a Mild/Moderate Disabilities Specialist, with English Language Learner and Autism authorizations.
I am blessed to work with exceptional students each day! I am grateful to be able to work in a district that provides not only academic rigor, but also the resources to increase achievement for each student. I love all kinds of people, and learn from each person I am in contact with. I believe all students can learn, and have a right to access to a meaningful education, no matter the setting or platform. I am passionate about helping students connect with curriculum and get excited as they discover strengths they didn't know they had. Building on those strengths, and providing supports for areas of weakness will help students achieve beyond what they previously believed was possible.
