Email EtiquetteIf you do not follow proper email etiquette, I will completely ignore your email. You are not texting your friend. You are making a formal request of a professional. Therefore, you need to observe the following guidelines in your email:
Example of an unacceptable email that will be ignored:
- Address the person to whom you are writing the email. Don't just start typing your explanation or request.
- Use proper capitalization, punctuation, and grammar. Again, this is not a text to your friend, but a memo that reflects characteristics about you.
- Put your name after the body of your mail. Don't assume the person will guess who you are by your email address.
