While I primarily used this website earlier in the year for sending out information to families, I have now transitioned to the Haiku PowerSchool Learning platform. The students have learned how to access everything on it and will be using one that is similar for next year.

It was nice to see everyone on Thursday when you came to get the student supplies. It certainly was an interesting end to the year, and one we will not forget. There are some activities on the template for this week that are fun for the students. I also posted the curriculum for those who wish to continue to work on it. The school software programs such as iReady and Fast Math will be open all summer and I encourage students to continue to work on their reading and math skills. The district will also have extension programs for students to check out. Some are science based programs which should be interesting.

I hope students read for pleasure as well. If they need some suggestions on books to read, please ask me so I can give them some options of good books to read.

I hope everyone has a relaxing summer with family and friends. Let's continue to practice ways to stay safe and healthy while we are on summer break.

I will be available by email through Friday, June 6, 2020. If you have any questions after that, please email Mrs. Ciabattini or Mrs. Biernat and they can contact me.

Friday Envelopes:

Brown envelopes will come home on Friday with all their classwork from the past week along with in the purple file folder. Incomplete work from the core curriculum may also be on that purple file folder.  Please have your child complete that work in the purple file folder. Those activities are something that was an important concept and they either were absent or did not complete it in class. If your child has gotten behind in science or social studies, that work will not be in the brown envelope. It is up to them to contact me and get the missing assignments and then complete them on their time. All LA and Math tests for all students will come home weekly to be reviewed and signed. They are to take their homework folders back and forth daily and be responsible for that folder each day when they leave here. If students are not completing math or their sentences for homework, or are doing them incorrectly, I will notify families if it becomes a recurring problem.

Reading as much as possible is the best use of homework time. You can divide the homework time up if that works, but overall third graders should not spend more than 45 minutes each night working on their homework. Homework is a reinforcement of the day's lessons in math and writing. If you ever have a time you have something arise, please just send a note or email me. That's never a problem.
