Students of the Month

The Student of the Month Program honored four accomplished college-bound senior students on Thursday, September 24, 2019.  The students were selected by their teachers for their character, integrity, love of learning, ability to persevere during challenging circumstances, community service and how they make a difference on their high school campus. 

The students and their families will attend a breakfast sponsored by numerous local businesses.  Principals and teachers from each high school shared stories about each of the students and students received numerous gift certificates from community businesses along with certificates of recognition, congratulations and encouragement from local, county, and state dignitaries.

Vista Murrieta High School - Bryanna Alvarez

Bryanna Alvarez, a VMHS senior is involved in AF JROTC and in the school Marching/Concert Band. In the AF JROTC program is a cadet commander and has learned that she is headstrong and enjoys pushing herself to the limit. One of the greatest lessons she has learned is how to balance her passions without becoming overwhelmed. She genuinely enjoys community service and is looking forward to giving back to the community when she graduates college with a degree in mechanical engineering. She plans on applying to UC Riverside.

 

Murrieta Mesa High School- Davin Ko 

Davin Ko, a part of the Ramily is a social senior who involved himself in several campus activities.  As someone who is considered an extrovert and introvert, Davin has learned how to conquer one of his biggest obstacles, which is the fear of other people's judgements. By learning to dissolve this fear, he was able to increase and deepen his relationships and become more open-minded.

After high school, Davin says he will, “continue to serve God and my community through mission trips in the future years to come as well. Within the next year, I plan to do my best to tutor as many other Mesa students as I can.”  

Davin plans on attending a four-year university, with potential nursing or medical school afterwards.

 

Murrieta Valley High School- Samantha Miles 

Samantha (Sam) Miles is an amazing leader on our campus. She is as great an example of a servant leader as any student that I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She does things the RITE way with respect integrity teamwork and excellence. She has served as the Chief Financial Officer for our Virtual Enterprise team that was one of the top teams in California, earning the right to compete in the national competition in New York City. This year she was a clear selection as CEO.  She is serving as Commanding Officer in our Marine Junior ROTC program. She has been a part of our Crimson Cadets band program that earned fourth place in the state in the marching band competition.

Samantha maintains above a 4.0 GPA and is wise beyond her years and brings poise and charisma to everything that she does on and off campus.  

 

Spring Charter School - Alison Thomas

Alison Thomas, a homeschool senior has been named September’s Student of the Month for Springs Charter School. After high school, Alison plans on attended MSJC, then transferring to Cal Baptist or Vanguard University where she will study business with a minor in Journalism.

Alison shares the most important life lesson and greatest accomplishment thus far, has been how to overcome anxiety and prioritize life responsibilities. To overcome this, she remembers to dwell and meditate on the good versus the negative and put her trust in God. Philippians 4:8 states "Finally, bretheren, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." Alison believes this is truly important to be remind of as there is so much darkness in the world.

 

About Student of the Month

Each student recognized will compete for the honor of the Student of the Year in June when 10 students will receive college scholarship upwards of $1,000 to the college, university or trade school of their choice.  If you wish to learn more about the Student of the Month Program, please contact Sally A.
