Over the course of the year we will study the past tenses, command forms, and object pronouns. Vocabulary covers vacations, leisure activities, news, childhood, food, daily habits, and household chores. We have 6 main objectives to help us build proficiency in Spanish: 1. To not be afraid of a 2nd Language environment. 2. Take risks and break down the affective filter. 3. To infer and circumlocute. 4. To use the second language 100% of the time in class. 5. To participate and be part of a community. 6. To cultivate intrinsic motivation and student empowerment. Our focus will be to develop the art of conversation.  Daily goals: Be respectful of all; 100% Spanish classroom; and Participate to learn! (See Organic World Language for more info)

Class Work and Participation

Everything we do in class will be collected at some point, so you MUST keep all assignments. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed AND complete those assignments.

PARTICIPATION is an integral part of learning a foreign language and therefore very important.  Welcome mistakes.  They are evidence of your effort☺.  Learn from them and watch your Spanish proficiency increase!

Homework

Expect to be speaking Spanish every class period and throughout your day to improve your conversational Spanish. No late homework accepted except in the case of an excused absence (extenuating circumstances may apply). You will be given a homework log/calendar to list assignments. Homework is given to practice topics covered in class. You will receive a homework grade. Therefore, it is imperative that you pay attention in class when we go over homework so that you are best able to apply what we learn.
