Air Quality Alerts
Air quality is an important consideration for schools in terms of student activities. Murrieta falls under the jurisdiction of the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD). Our local air district assists our schools with understanding local air quality concerns and actions we can take to protect student health. The AQI is calculated based on common air pollutants including particulate matter (PM2.5 & PM10), ozone (smog), carbon monoxide, and nitrogen dioxide. AQI does not account for other pollutants that may also cause unhealthy air quality at times.
Our district also uses Purple Air Sensors, which collects hyper-local air quality data in real time. Sensors are strategically placed at a few schools throughout our community.
Air Quality Index (AQI)
- AQI 0-50: Green Level (GOOD)
- AQI 51-100: Yellow Level (MODERATE)
- AQI 101-150: Orange Level (UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITVE GROUPS)
- AQI 151-200: Red Level (UNHEALTHY )
- AQI 201-300: Purple Level (VERY UNHEALTHY )
- AQI 301-400: Maroon Level (HAZARDOUS)
