Mrs. Scott

Loretta Scott (she/her/hers) has been teaching in MVUSD since 1995. She taught at Avaxat Elementary, and then moved over to Creekside High School’s Independent Study Program in 2001. Here she taught high school, middle school, and elementary school through Independent Study when it became Tenaja Canyon Academy and now Murrieta Canyon Academy.

Mrs. Scott graduated with a B.A. in Communication Studies from UCLA (1991). She attended UCSD Graduate School of Education (TEP) to obtain her Multiple Subject Clear Credential with CLAD Emphasis (1995). Mrs. Scott also earned her M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Azusa Pacific University (1998).
Mrs. Scott teaches electives (Ethnic Studies, Sociology), Health, Career/ICT, and PE for MCA. She also started The Phoenix Press student newspaper, and runs the GSA Club.

Mrs. Scott is married to her supportive husband, who is retired Navy and currently working for Department of Defense. They are empty nesters now, with the two grown daughters away at UC Davis and UCLA.

When she’s not teaching, Mrs. Scott can be found either out somewhere on her family farm in Valley Center, or in her garage gym lifting. She is a nationally-ranked competitive Olympic Weightlifter with Team SAW, and is hoping to make the Team USA for World Championships next year! She also keeps busy tending to the animals and property on the Scott Family Farm, such as gathering eggs from the chickens, raising baby ducklings, gardening, chasing dogs around, and figuring out how to keep bees!
