Last night one of our MCA students reported to Murrieta Police, a social media chat that contained a threat to a specific student and the campus. Immediately, Murrieta Police Department investigated the threat and quickly determined that the threats were not credible.
Students involved in the social media chat were interviewed by school officials and law enforcement. Again, there is no credible threat. Out of an abundance of caution, our School Resource Officers team has been stationed at the school.
I want to assure you that we take any threat to student and staff safety very seriously and we appreciate Murrieta Police for their prompt investigation. We commend the students who reported this threat.
Please talk with your teen about the importance of reporting anything they are aware of that might disrupt the safe learning environment at our school. In addition, please speak to them about the legal consequences' student may face when making false threats, including but not limited to, school disciplinary action.
For our school to remain a safe haven for all students and staff, we must all work together to provide the safe environment that our children deserve.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to call my office. Thank you for your support and assistance in keeping our campus safe for children.
