Alta Murrieta Elementary School, a California Distinguished School, serves students in Transitional Kindergarten through Grade Five. Alta Murrieta Elementary School opened in 1989 as the third elementary school in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District. The educational community at Alta Murrieta believes that all children can learn. To establish a learning environment where all children can succeed, staff, parents, and community members must come together to provide the necessary support. Together, we will strive to instill in each student the skills necessary to meet life’s challenges with honesty, integrity, courage, and the desire for intellectual and personal excellence.

At Alta Murrieta, children participate in programs that foster individual growth, academic progress, cultural literacy, and good citizenship. Striving for and maintaining excellence is an on-going process at Alta Elementary School, articulated through our school motto "Pursuing Excellence."
Description of Campus
Alta Murrieta Elementary School opened in 1989 as the third elementary school in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District. The school has 48 classrooms, a multipurpose room, a professional development center, library, administrative offices, cafeteria, staff lounge and two play areas (one for Pre-K and kindergarten students and one designated for students in grades 1-5). Child care facilities for students in grades K-5 are located on campus in a separate room.
Instructional Goals / Program
Alta Murrieta uses the California State Standards, District and State curriculum, current research in education, and student assessment data to maintain our strong educational foundation. We believe students will need this strong educational foundation and the support of the community to meet the high standards and expectations that are necessary for them to compete in tomorrow’s world. 1:1 technology is leveraged to provide rigorous and relevant learning experiences for students.
