• Attendance

To report an absence please contact the front office:

    Phone: 951-696-1428 Ext. 8851 or press 1

Students are welcome to enter the school grounds at 8:15 a.m. There will be no supervision prior to that time,

Supervision is provided after school for students waiting to be picked up and those who are enrolled in the Day Care program. All other students are to exit the campus when school is dismissed. There is no supervision past 3:10 p.m. for students who walk home or students waiting to be picked up by parents.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to notify the school office within 30 minutes after school begins if a student is absent. If the office is not contacted, an automated call to home will be made on the day of the absence. If this is unsuccessful, the student should have a written excuse signed by the parent/guardian upon his/her return to school after an absence. If the student does not have a reason for an absence, a form will be sent home with the student. This form is to be completed and returned the following day.

Absence from school breaks the continuity of learning. According to state law, your child's daily attendance is required each day that he/she is physically able to attend. Parents or guardians are responsible for their child's attendance at school. The only valid reasons for an excused absence from school (Ed. Code, Sec. 46010) are:

    • An illness or an injury to the child.
    • A quarantine of the home by county or city health officials.
    • A medical, dental, optometrist or chiropractic appointment.
    • Attendance at funeral services for a member of the immediate family.
    • Other absences are considered unexcused and not only cause a disruption to your child's instructional program, but are costly to the district.

    NOTIFICATION OF ABSENCE

The school is required by the state to have an official explanation for all absences. We have a 24-hour voice mail service available for your convenience. If your child is to be away from school over a long period of time, please call the school and notify them of the absence in advance. Teachers request a 24-hour notice if homework is desired for your child during a long absence.

    LATE ARRIVAL

If your student is late, he/she is required to report to the office before going to class. Any student who is tardy in excess of 30 minutes per day for 3 days in one school year is considered truant and may be reported to the attendance supervisor and /or the School Attendance Review Board.

    LEAVING SCHOOL DURING SCHOOL HOURS

Students may not leave the school grounds for any reason, including lunch, without a parent/guardian or an authorized adult. If the student is to be taken out of school, the parent/guardian or authorized adult must come to the office, show ID and sign the student out on an official form in the office.  Any parent/guardian requesting to take their child out should have their name on the emergency card. The clerk will call your child's room and have him/her sent to you in the office.  If the student returns on that same day, the parent/guardian or authorized adult must sign the student back in.
