Next Generation Science Standards:

MVUSD is in the transitioning phase...we are phasing out the older California State Science Standards, and working on implementing the new Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). With this transition year, we are excited to build new units for your child, provide a more "hands on" learning experience in science, and facilitate a deeper understanding of the subject matter. 

It is important to note however, that your child will still take the CST test in the spring. This test is a mandated test for all 5th, 8th, and 10th graders in California. The CST will be based on the old California State Science Standards, and there will be standards that will not be taught in the classroom this year as we transition to NGSS.
