Welcome to Second Grade! 

I am so excited to be your teacher this year! I hope you are as thrilled as I am to be back in the classroom to start second grade! Get ready for fun as we embark on the adventure of learning! Yes, learning can be fun!

We will be learning a lot of awesome things in second grade! I will try to integrate books, games, songs, and art into our learning as much as possible. I find that the more students are engaged, the better they learn!

One of the most important things we will be focused on this year is having a growth mindset. For example, we can change our thoughts from, “I don’t know how,” to, “I can learn how!” Changing the thoughts that we have when we face a challenge will help us to overcome that challenge. The earlier that students learn this, the more successful they will be in the future!

I also think it is imperative to foster a positive classroom environment. I encourage each student to be themselves, while contributing to our classroom “family” as a whole. For example, students will contribute to the class by doing a “class job.” Most importantly, we will be spending a lot of time together this year, so it is crucial that we learn to treat ourselves and others with kindness and respect.

A little bit about me: I am a wife and mother of two wonderful children. I received my B.A. in Psychology from UC Santa Barbara. I completed my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential from CSU Fullerton. This is my seventh year working int he district, and my third year teaching at Avaxat. Finally, I just love being apart of this wonderful community!
