General Information
Visitors
All visitors are required to sign in at the office during the instructional day and they will be issued a Visitor badge. We welcome visitors but must ensure the safety of our students.
School Hours
Looking for school hours? Due to safety concerns, district schools do not publish school hours or bell schedules on school websites. Students, parents and guardians can easily obtain bell schedules from the school office.Morning Arrival
Please do not send your child to school too early, as there will be no supervision.
School Telephones
School phones are limited to school business and emergencies. Children will be permitted to use the phone only in an emergency. Plans for after school activities should be made at home before the school day. Students and teachers should not be asked to come to the phone when classes are in session, except in an emergency.
Tardiness / Absence
Regular attendance is an important indicator of school success. We respect the importance of quality instructional time. Students should be on time and ready to learn. Promptness to class is extremely important. Students are to be in their seat and ready for instruction when the day begins. Interruptions due to tardiness take away from learning time, and are disruptive to the class. Tardy students are to report to the office as soon as they arrive at school. Consistent attendance is essential to our child's educational progress; therefore absences should be kept to a minimum. If your child must be absent or tardy for any reason, please contact the school office at 696-1402. For your convenience, we have a voice mail system to take messages when the office is closed. When your child returns to school, please send a written note stating child's name, teacher's name, date of absence, reason for absence and your signature. We are required by the State to verify the reason for all absences. Please remember that much of what your child learns at school comes directly from one to one contact with the teacher. It cannot be duplicated on a piece of paper. If you are going to be out of town, please contact the teacher at least 5 days in advance.
Report Cards
Report cards are issued every trimester and progress reports are issued mid trimester. They are designed to give you a written report on the educational progress of your child.
Conferences
Parent Teacher conferences are held at the end of the first trimester for all students. Spring conferences may be requested by either the teacher or parent. Please make every effort to attend them. Parents are encouraged to conference with the teacher at any time throughout the year. An appointment may be made by leaving a message for the teacher at the office or in writing.
Lost and Found
The lost and found is located in or outside of the Multi-Purpose room. Please mark your child's sweaters, jackets, backpacks, lunch boxes etc. for easy identification. Small items are turned into the office. Parents are invited to check the lost and found. We are not responsible for personal toys, games or other personal items that should not be brought to school.
Any student riding a bike to school must supply a lock. Bikes must be stored in the fenced bike rack area. Students riding to school must wear bicycle helmets.
Bicycles, skateboards, skates, and rollerblades
Any student riding a bike, skateboard, skates, or rollerblades to school must supply a lock. They must be stored in the fenced bike rack area. Students must wear a helmet. Bikes, skateboards, skates, and rollerblades are not allowed on the main campus.
Lunches
For 2021-2022 school year, meals will be available at no cost to students. Menus are available monthly. Applications for free/reduced lunches are available from Nutrition Services. If you apply for free or reduced price lunches, applications must be submitted and approved each year. If your child forgets his/her lunch, bring it to the office with your child's name and room number clearly marked. We will make a special area where it can be claimed at lunchtime, without interrupting instructional time.
Snacks
Each class has a snack period at the beginning of the morning recess (early afternoon for PM kindergarten). Snacks are eaten at the outdoor picnic tables in the shade. Younger students especially benefit from a nutritious snack. Please avoid soft drinks, sugary snacks, candy or other "junk food". Fruit, half a sandwich and crunchy vegetables are especially good energy boosters.
