Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to first grade at Tovashal Elementary! We look forward to getting to know your family and partnering together to make this a tremendous school year.
My name is Ms. Larcher and I am thrilled to be part of the Tigershark family this year. I am a native of Temecula. I attended San Diego State University and earned my B.A. in Liberal Studies (Education) and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I also have my M.S. in Curriculum Design and Instruction. This will be my 10th year teaching. My aim is to inspire a love of learning and an inquiring mind in each of the students I have the honor of teaching.
First grade is an awesome year where children learn through play! We will become avid readers with access to a wide range of children’s literature. We will develop our phonics and language skills in the four strands of reading, writing, speaking and listening. We will think like mathematicians as we learn new strategies to gain a deeper understanding of the base 10 system. We will learn that our classroom serves as a microcosm of society in which decisions are made with respect and responsibility for ourselves and others. Exploring, observing and experimenting in hands-on activities will have us thinking like scientists.
I have high expectations of my students. We live Tovashal's Six Pillars of Character every day. We communicate using accountable talk and follow our class ‘Essential Agreement’ that we co-construct at the beginning of the year. We uphold our school's SHARK acronym because it keeps us happy and safe.
As our Mission Statement proclaims, our team is committed to providing a safe, motivating environment with a well-balanced, standards-based education for each student. We believe each of these elements is critical as students develop their abilities, learn new skills, and prepare to influence the world around them both now and in the future.
We welcome and encourage you to be actively involved in our learning community this year. Together we can make it an incredible year!
