Principal's Message

Welcome to the Tovashal Elementary School website!

It is an honor to continue my service in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District as principal of Tovashal Elementary School. I am excited to partner with the Tigershark community to meet and exceed the high academic, behavior, and social-emotional expectations that have long been established at the school. Along with supporting all students to achieve their full potential, it is my commitment to maintain a safe, positive, and engaging teaching and learning school environment.

Every student at Tovashal carries unique interests, strengths, dreams, and goals. It is important to me that we help each Tigershark build pathways to help discover and grow these special qualities. With patience, perseverance, encouragement, and a growth-mindset, I am confident each student will be successful in doing so and become contributing members of our community and society.

Our fantastic Tovashal team of classroom teachers, support staff, and school and district administrators are excited and prepared to meet the needs of the whole child. Standards-based lesson designs and engaging activities, effective instructional practices, and team collaboration drive academic excellence and student achievement. Multiple systems of support ensure that each student is targeted and given precise levels of instruction, interventions, and enrichments to be successful.

It is with great pride and enthusiasm to begin building positive partnerships and relationships with the Tovashal community. I value the input and collaboration from our Tigershark families as we build foundational academic and social-emotional skills. Mr. Rod DeLeon was an elementary and middle school teacher at Temecula Elementary and James L. Day Middle School in the Temecula Valley Unified School District. He moved into school administration serving as an Assistant Principal at Todd Academy in the Corona-Norco Unified School District. Mr. DeLeon earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Point Loma Nazarene University, Master of Education degree at Concordia University, Administrative Services credential at Cal State, University of San Marcos
