Reading With Your Child at Home

Many parents have asked me how they can help their child with reading at home.  There are three different types of reading your child should       experience to help him or her become more successful and develop a life-long love of reading: reading to someone, reading with someone (you read a page, they read a page), and listening to someone read.  When your child reads to you, remind them to focus on reading with fluency and expression.  Ask them comprehension questions about stories you read together.  Please take some time each day to read with your child.  It will not only help them in school, they will love the extra time they get to spend with you!
