Hey Future Wildcats!
We look forward to seeing you all at the following upcoming events:
- March 20th:
- 5th Grade Rally (During the school day, BES/ALTA students will either walk or bus over to WSMS. 5th grade teachers will send home course request forms.)
- OPEN HOUSE/5th Grade Parent Night (Evening Event- information will be emailed home)
- April 18th:
- WSMS Counselors Visit BES 5th Grade Classrooms (Course request forms due at this time)
- April 19th:
- WSMS Counselors Visit ALTA 5th Grade Classrooms (Course request forms due at this time)
If you are joining us from another elementary school, other than Alta Murrieta or Buchanan Elementary, you are welcome to attend the 5th grade rally and open house event. To ensure accurate registration information or for additional questions, email to your students' future school counselor to ensure you have recieved a course request form:

- Middle School course options: Your student will take 6 classes at WSMS: Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, Physical Education and an Elective course. Your student may have the option to take two electives, this will give them a zero period class (school starts early at 7:55am each day).

- Language Arts 6: All 6th grade students will take Language Arts 6 and will have the opportunity to pursue the Advanced Language Arts curriculum. Teachers will review the criteria for this class within the first week of school and students/parents will have the opportunity to decide if they would like to challenge themselves and enroll in this program. Upon completion of the requirements, student’s transcripts will be changed to reflect an “Advanced LA6” course title.

- Accelerated Math 6: Accelerated Math 6 places you on the district's most advanced math pathway. 6th grade Accelerated Math will cover all of 6th grade standards and half of 7th grade standards. By 8th grade, accelerated students will be taking the advanced version of Math 1 (freshman level math). Students will be placed in Accelerated Math 6 by their iReady math scores in 5th grade. Students who place in the top 20% (80th percentile or higher) in window 2 or 3 of this test will be automatically enrolled in this course.

- WSMS Leaderhsip applications are open on March 13th and close on March 27th.
- WSMS Cheer program applications open on March 22nd and close on April12th. Tryouts are April 15th-17th @ WSMS.
