Mrs. Green, M.E.,PPS

For the past 18 years, I have served as a Counselor in multiple settings and with many students, families, and staff. I began my counseling career as a peer counselor at UCLA while working on my B.A. in Sociology. In this position, I discovered my passion and purpose to facilitate the academic and personal empowerment of students through one-on-one and small group counseling.

After graduating from UCLA, I worked for several years in the non-profit sector as an Academic Advisor supporting students and families explore and prepare for post-secondary options. Working as an academic advisor confirmed for me that supporting students and families as a School Counselor was the best profession for me. I went back to school and earned a Master of Education and Pupil Personnel Service (PPS) Credential in School Counseling from USC. During and after my time at USC, I spent eight years in alternative education working as a Detention Service Officer, Substitute Teacher and Counselor, and Academic Counselor. During this time, I gained valuable knowledge and experience in working with young people and families facing and overcoming difficult situations.

I transitioned into Elementary School Counseling 8 years ago and I have been so excited with the opportunity to teach social emotional skills to some of our youngest students. I am even more thrilled to be at Monte Vista Elementary School. It is great to be a part of a school and district that is leading the way in ensuring access to social emotional learning for all students. I know our school, district, and communities will be kinder, socially emotionally healthier places because of our dedication to social emotional learning.
