Mrs. Grumkoski (Mrs. G)
Hello Monte Vista families and students,
My name is Nicole Grumkoski, Mrs. G. I am the Library Media Tech II for our school library. I am looking forward to starting my fourth year with our school. I genuinely enjoy being a part of the staff and community of Monte Vista. I am responsible for all library and curriculum functions at our school. My goal is to foster a love of reading and life-long learning, as well as provide a safe space for all students. This library is not your traditional, old school "SHHHH!!!" library. There will be activities planned to go along with our stories throughout the year. We do learn library skills, practice library manners regarding how we treat books, appropriate voice levels, and expectations of checking in and out library books. Your children will visit the library on a weekly basis with their classroom, but they are welcome to come any time before school and on the selected days designated as OPEN LIBRARY. It is important for me to take the time to help students select books in their area of interest. The books chosen to read aloud are carefully selected based on age-appropriate fiction and nonfiction literature.
I have been a part of Monte Vista for many years in various capacities from parent, substitute and now employee. I was a classroom volunteer, PTA volunteer, and Monte Vista PTA President for 2 years as well as Murrieta Valley Council President for 2 years. My kids and I have always felt a strong sense of family at Monte Vista. I can now continue to build that sense of belonging and community with all the students and families in my role at this school.
My husband and I moved our family to Murrieta in 2005. My daughter is a second year Biology student at MSJC and will transfer to UCSB in 2023. My son is a sophomore, class of 2025, at Vista Murrieta HS. I also have two playful yellow labs, Ginger and Harley. I graduated from CSU San Bernardino, class of 1996, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration-Finance. Currently, I am taking classes at Palomar College to complete the Library Information Technology (LIT) program.
I look forward to seeing you and your children in our library!
