MMHS ASL Students,

Welcome to ASL here at Murrieta Mesa High School! I am so thrilled to have you as my students and am looking forward to a great year!

My name is Mrs. Escamilla, but most people call me "Mrs. E". I graduated from California State University Northridge, where I majored in Deaf Studies with an emphasis in ASL/Deaf Literature. Education is my passion, and I am so excited to share my experience and the knowledge passed down to me by my Deaf instructors and mentors. I am married to my middle school sweetheart, have three dogs and a cat, and am with the people I love any chance I get!

As your teacher, your educational experience and academic advancement are of the utmost importance to me, and I am here to support you. I have designed this course to grow and exercise your knowledge of ASL vocabulary, ASL structure, communication skills, Deaf culture, and the Deaf community. Our classroom is an immersive learning environment, with the intention of building cultural awareness and culturally appropriate behaviors. We have so much to learn and will have so much fun along the way.

I look forward to exploring the Deaf language and culture with you all and building our classroom community together!
