• Principal's Message

    Mark Pettengill Nighthawk Family,

Welcome to the Murrieta Valley High School website.  We hope that our web site will provide you with important information about our school including upcoming events, our instructional programs, staff contact information, student and parent resources, policies and behavior expectations.  The Mission of Murrieta Valley High School is to inspire academic excellence, to create a caring and respectful community and to foster integrity and character in our students.

We want every student to get involved and find their niche.  Involved students help to create a collaborative and engaging culture on our campus.

We have many special and engaging programs to prepare students for their future pursuits and college including the International Baccalaureate Program, Advanced Placement course, the Mount San Jacinto Community College on our campus, seven Career Pathways, and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID).  There are more than 50 courses on our campus that students can take to earn college credits. We have award-winning Visual and Performing Arts programs and students compete in Robotics, Mock Trial, Science Olympiad, Virtual Enterprise, auto repair, choir, drama, art competitions and band festivals.  Our students also participate in Peer Assistance Leadership, Nighthawk Pride and Link Crew teams to assist incoming freshmen.  Our Associated Student Body and Senate Students lead the student body in assemblies, rallies, activities, and creating a positive school climate and culture.  We promote a climate of respect for all students and celebrate our diversity. Through our intervention period, Office Hours, SMART Saturdays, our 24/7 online tutoring program, Paper, and before/afterschool tutoring in the library there are many opportunities for students to receive additional academic support.  Our athletes compete in the challenging Southwestern League and many sports are represented in CIF tournaments.

It is our hope that parents will actively participate in our school by serving as a School Site Council member, a Booster member, an active participant in our Parent-Teacher-Student-Association (PTSA) or attending school events.  During the school year, if you have any academic concerns, please contact your student's teacher via email, telephone, or through a personal conference.  Our teachers strive to provide a high standard of service to our students and their families and will have the most direct information to address any questions.

These are critical years in the lives of our students and we are thrilled to partner with parents in this exciting process.  Our commitment is to help our students to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.  Our mission and core belief system is to create a positive and safe culture by leading our students to the R.I.T.E. Way (With Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, and Excellence).  Each year we continue to build upon Murrieta Valley High School's strong academic tradition which has made our school a cornerstone in the Murrieta community for the past 30 years.  On behalf of the entire Murrieta Valley staff, we want to welcome our students and families to Murrieta Valley High School.  We look forward to an exciting year.  The Hawks are in the House!
