El pretérito:usos
  • The preterite is one of two past tenses in Spanish.
  • It is used when the action being described has already been completed.
  • It is like the “ed” endings in English.
What are the preterite verb endings?

éamos

-er/-ir

Key words for preteriteAyer=yesterday
Anteayer=the day before yesterday
Anoche=last night
La semana pasada=last week
El año pasado=last year

Stem Changers?
    -ar/-er verbs DO NOT stem change in the preterite.

    -ir stem changers only change in the él and ellos forms, but the change is different than the changes in the present tense. (1.3)
