Welcome to ASB, Senate, and/or Robotics 1!

I am so excited to be back at Shivela for my second year, and I am looking forward to all the fun this year has in store.

A little bit about me is that I grew up in Newport Beach, CA. After graduating from Newport Harbor High School, I attended the University of California at Santa Barbara where I worked towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology. After graduating from UCSB in 2018, I worked for a couple of years in a biotech lab as a histotechnologist, in which I performed immunohistochemistry. Being that I always intended to become a teacher, I eventually went back to school through Concordia University, Irvine for my Single Subject Teaching Credential in Biology. After a year of teaching Science 8 and ASB, I am looking forward to the opportunity to lean into my role as a Leadership and Robotics teacher!

In ASB, our goal is to serve the community of Shivela through leadership. We host lunchtime events, fundraisers, and help with building and maintaining a positive school culture and climate. 

In Senate, sixth grade students will learn foundational skills in leadership and build upon these skills throughout the school year in preparation for our seventh and eighth grade leadership classes (ASB, Renaissance, WEB, Unified Leadership).

In Robotics 1, students have the opportunity to engage in critical thinking skills through fun engineering projects using our VEX IQ second generation robotics equipment. Students will also have the opportunity to learn foundational skills in computer science.
