The upcoming 2024 school year will begin my 36th year in education of which thirty of those have been at Shivela. The seventh grade course is entitled Medieval through Early Modern Times which picks up where 6th grade studies left off.  We begin exploring world cultures around the B.C. (B.C.E.) and A.D. (C.E.) time split in world history. We will emphasize six primary areas of knowledge in each culture to be studied: geography, social classes, economics, government, belief system, science and technology.  In addition to acquiring basic factual information, we will work on developing the skill of writing for history. This skill practices logical reasoning and expression and meets our common core requirements. You can preview the topics to be covered by looking at your student’s textbook.
