Counselors at SMS are committed to enhancing the academic, emotional, and personal growth of students. Some of the services we provide include:

• Individual counseling
• Small group support
• Teacher/parent consultation
• Classroom guidance activities
• Community referrals
• Academic monitoring
• Peer programs

Counselors at SMS are assigned by grade level and follow students to their next grade level, allowing students to stay with the same counselor all 3 years.  

Counselors are available from 8:15 AM - 3:30 PM on regular school days; Students may come to Student Services and ask to see their counselor before school, at break, at lunch, or after school.  If counselors are unavailable, students should fill out a request form in Student Services and their counselor will contact that student as quickly as possible. 

Counselors are also available to meet with parents when a need arises.  Parents are asked to contact Student Services in advance and schedule an appointment by calling (951) 696-1406. 

If there are concerns about a student's class, parents are asked to contact the teacher first.  If there are still difficulties after contact has been made, parents may contact their student's counselor for further assistance.
