Guidance and Counseling Team
There is a wide array of programs to meet the social and emotional needs of our diverse student body. This includes programs to identify and support students and their families through times of crisis and stress. The Breakthrough Program provides referrals to help adolescents address issues such as anger management, anxiety and depression, sexuality, and the use of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.
A nurse, health technician, counselor, and psychologist are also available to meet with students to provide counseling services and help with social, emotional, and behavioral issues. Several student support groups help promote a positive school environment. We have a Girls’ Circle and Boys’ Council that are overseen by the Police Activity League (PAL). We also have two grief groups that meet weekly to provide focused bereavement and cancer support. Our counselors also present several guidance lessons in classes throughout the year to all grade levels. The topics of these lessons include sixth grade orientation, sexual harassment, bullying, and academic seminar.Name
