MVUSD Volunteer Information
We love volunteers at our school sites and appreciate their contribution of so much time and energy to our students and staff. Here are the requirements to become a volunteers and a few things for volunteers to keep in mind. Volunteers are welcome to contact their school office for help in getting this paperwork together so they can begin participating as a volunteer.- TB Testing: Each volunteer must have a current TB test on file with the school site office.
- Megan’s Law Background Check: Each volunteer must have a current Megan’s Law Background Check on file with the specific school site office(s) where they volunteer. Volunteers only need to fill out the Volunteer Application/Megan’s Law form and be cleared once. You do not need to fill out a new form for each school year. If you have volunteered at another school in MVUSD and wish to make a school site change -- please notify the office and fill out the Volunteer Site Transfer Request form.
- Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate: All volunteer walk-on coaches and volunteers for student activity programs including cheer team, drill team, dance team and band must have an Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate or a criminal background check.
- Sign-In and Out: All volunteers at each of our school sites are required to sign in and out at the office and put on a nametag each day they volunteer. This helps us identify people on our campus and helps keep our kids safe. If you are a PTA member, please remember to check the box on the sign-in sheet so we can keep track of PTA volunteer hours.
VOLUNTEER FORMS
All forms should be turned in to the school site office. Please note individuals will not be allowed to volunteer until the school office has received notice of the Megan's Law clearance and results of the TB test.-
First Time Volunteer Application/Megan's Law Background Check
- Volunteer Site Transfer Request
- Volunteer Code of Conduct - form must be on file at each site
- Volunteer Code of Confidentiality - required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
- Private Vehicle Transportation Form - If you plan to drive on a field trip, you will need to fill out this form and submit to the school office
PTA
Parents, students and community members are all welcome and encouraged to become a part of PTA. PTA's objectives are to:- Promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
- To raise the standards of home life.
- To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
- To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
- To develop between educators and the general public a united efforts to provide advantages in physical, mental social and spiritual education.

Several MVUSD elementary and middle schools have the Watch D.O.G.S. program on campus. Watch D.O.G.S. is a nationally recognized program that has brought hundreds of thousands of fathers and father figures into our nation’s classrooms and playgrounds and it has a tremendously positive impact on the educational process.
Program Goals
1) To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
2) To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.Thank you for your willingness to volunteer and for your support of our schools!
