Good afternoon Murrieta Valley USD Parents/Guardians,

The purpose of this communication is to provide information regarding Phase II of the Distance Learning Plan.  In accordance with the California Department of Education’s guidance to continue delivering high-quality educational opportunities, all MVUSD students will begin Phase two of distance learning beginning on Monday, April 6th.

Our administrators, teachers, and staff have been working hard to create a quality distance learning plan. Teachers will be providing assignments and classroom activities for students on their class roster/s.  Special Education teachers and related Service Providers will also be providing specialized instruction and services, to the extent possible.

It is important to note that in California, education is compulsory.  Even though learning will now be offered through virtual means (online), student participation is still required. Teachers will be communicating with students on a regular basis to confirm their participation in distance learning.

The following student expectations are in place for Phase II of distance learning:

    • Regular Student/Family Review of Teacher Communication: Teachers will be in communication regularly each week through the remainder of the school year. If you or your student have not heard from your student’s teacher, please check your email and/or send the teacher an email.  If you have not received any district emails or are having issues with receiving Aeries Communication from the district, school or teachers, please visit, for frequently asked questions, a parent tutorial and general information.

    • Follow the Teacher’s Directed Instructional Platform: Teachers will be using a preferred platform which may include Haiku/Power School, Microsoft Office Teams, teacher website, or regular email to share assignments. Please continue to check on updates on these platforms. Your teacher/s will communicate with directions for accessing their instructional platform at the beginning of the week.

    • Use of District Email: All secondary students will need to login to their school issued Office 365 account to check their emails from teachers which will include assignments, check-ins, and other important information. Elementary teachers will let families know if they are using students’ district email for communication.  A link to Office 365 for all students may be found on,

    • Assignment Completion: Please follow all teacher instruction and directions for assignment completion. If there are issues with online access to any programs, please let your teacher/s know so they can provide appropriate support.

If you have any questions about distance learning or are in need of a electronic device, please email your teacher/s, school site administration, or  and district staff will communicate with you regarding your inquiry.

We understand this is a difficult time for our community, and there are many challenges as our MVUSD families adjust to this temporary new normal. A priority of our district is to support the social and emotional well-being of all our students and their families. Our counselors and school administrators are committed to staying connected even at a distance. In the interim, you can find social emotional support resources on the distance learning page:

Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we embark on this distance learning journey together.
