It is the general intent of the district that students attend their neighborhood schools - that is, the school that serves the attendance area in which they reside. However, the district also supports the concept of school choice within the limitations of space availability.
There are three processes by which a parent may request approval to attend a school other than their neighborhood school. INTRA-district transfer requests pertain to a student who lives in the MVUSD boundaries, but desires to attend a school other than their residentially designated MVUSD school. INTER-district transfer requests pertain to students who live outside of the MVUSD boundaries (Temecula, Menifee, Wildomar/Lake Elsinore etc.) and the student desires to attend a school in the MVUSD. INTER-district transfers OUT of MVUSD requests pertain to students who live in the MVUSD boundaries and want to transfer out of the district.
- Open Enrollment Intradistrict Transfers
- Intradistrict Transfers (Request WITHIN MVUSD Boundaries)
- Interdistrict Transfers (Request from a school district OUTSIDE of Murrieta)
If applications exceed the spaces available for transfer, a lottery will be held for approval. A first-come, first-served system does not apply.
