• AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an exceptional program that begins in middle school and is designed to help students accomplish their dream obeing prepared for college and a career.

AVID provides students with the skills they need to be successful in middle school and high school and the tools, guidance, and courses necessary for career aspirations and college readiness. Over the years, AVID seniors from the district's high schools have achieved an amazing 93% four-year college acceptance rate, which far exceeds the national college acceptance rate of 36%. Our goal as a district is to equip AVID students with the skills and knowledge they need to graduate high school prepared, with a variety of options and a clear plan for their futures.

The AVID program gives day-to-day mentoring, creates a vision of college and career as attainable, and provides guidance on how to navigate career opportunities and the college preparatory system. AVID places students with a strong group of peers and adults who share a commitment to academic achievement. Ultimately, AVID provides structure and a sense of family to support students as they take on the academic challenges necessary to achieve their college and career goals.

Incoming students and parents interested in the AVID program for next year are encouraged to talk to the district's AVID Coordinator, Denise Guzman, to learn more about the extraordinary AVID programs in the district.
