Vista Murrieta High School is a four-year comprehensive high school accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. VMHS offers students an excellent academic program, a well-rounded student activities program, and an outstanding interscholastic athletic program. VMHS has received many awards and accolades including Max Preps Most Spirited School award for two consecutive years, four consecutive CIF School of Character Award and 2012 Coach and Athletic Director magazines' Interscholastic Sports Program Excellence Award.

Vista Murrieta was granted a six-year term of accreditation from Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
The high school is built on 68 acres and overlooks the City of Murrieta. VMHS has 99 classrooms, computer and technology labs, library, college career center, state of the art science facilities, a lecture hall, classrooms for ceramics, art, fashion and design, photography, and foods and a performing arts center which includes band, choir and drama classrooms, offices for school administrators, staff, the school nurse, workrooms, an ASB office, student store and Athletic facilities include main and practice gymnasiums, an aquatics facility, athletic stadium with an all-weather running surface, three competition baseball and softball diamonds, two full-size soccer fields, physical education fields and courts, a weight room with state of the art equipment and classrooms for health, wrestling, and aerobics.
Year School Opened
The first phase of Vista Murrieta High School opened in August 2003 for freshmen and sophomore students. The second phase of the school, including the Aquatics and Athletic Stadium, were completed in 2004. The school’s first class of seniors graduated in June, 2006.
The entire school community collaborates to ensure the success of each individual student and prepare them for post secondary educational options. To help ensure success, each student is assigned to a Assistant Principal and Counselor. The district support center staff, teachers, lead teachers, mentors, school support staff, administrators and parents are all actively involved in providing focus, resources, research data and instructional training for the continuous improvement of the instructional program at VMHS. The school’s instructional program is consistent with the District’s mission of academic success for all students through a K through 12th grade sequence of teaching, learning, assessment and support.
