• Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: When do cadets wear their uniforms?

A: Cadets wear their uniforms on their assigned days according to their block schedule every Monday and Tuesday (unless stated or told otherwise) and for specific events (required or formal) which we participate in, such as Veteran's Day Parade or Military Ball.

Q: What happens if you are absent on a Uniform Day?

A: If a cadet is absent on a Uniform Day, it is expected that the cadet will come to school the following day wearing their uniform, go see any of the instructors, and let them know that they were absent and that they need to be inspected. The instructor will then inspect you and your uniform, and fill in your missing UI grade in the gradebook.

Q: What are the hair requirements?

A: Males: A cadets' hair must not and will not touch the ears and only closely cut or shaved hair on the back of the neck may touch the collar. It cannot exceed 1 1/4 inches in bulk, regardless of length.

Females: Minimum hair length is ¼ inch, to a maximum bulk of three inches from scalp and allows proper wear of headgear. Hair will end above the bottom edge of collar and will not extend below an invisible line drawn parallel to the ground, both front to back and side to side. When hair is in a bun, the bun must be a single bun, and when hair is in a ponytail, it must be a single ponytail.  If worn, fabric scrunchies, hairpins, combs, clips, headbands, elastic bands and barrettes must match the hair color (i.e., blonde, brunette, natural red, black, and grey).
